Auditorio Ángel Zapata, Universidad del Valle, Cali
04 December 2023 - 08 December 2023
from 08:00 to 18:00
The official language of the workshop is English
There is a growing academic and industrial interest in nanometer scale and quantum technology, and a global trend for individual disciplines - such as quantum science, photonics, materials science, computer science and engineering - to merge and adapt to train the new generation of students in quantum technology.
The short courses and lectures of the workshop are designed to provide the students and researchers of QTECNOS and the local national community with an overview of current research topics in nanoscale and quantum science, including (but not limited to) nanophysics, materials engineering, photonics and quantum technology.
About QTECNOS
The University of Oslo in Norway and four partners from the Global South, namely the Universidad del Valle (Colombia), the Association of Colombian State Universities of the Caribbean (Colombia), the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru) and the University of Havana (Cuba), established the Quantum Technology Education Consortium between Norway, South America and Cuba (QTECNOS) programme. To ensure the transfer of industrially relevant skills and wider dissemination, we have joined forces with the Nordic Quantum Computing Group in Norway.
QTECNOS is a strategy to strengthen academic and research cooperation with the aim of improving the current situation of education in quantum science and technology both in the Global South and in Norway. It will also increase the quality and internationalisation of academic programmes and promote student mobility between the partners. QTECNOS is funded by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir).
